Florida Southern College has broken ground on its newest addition, the Adams Athletic Performance Center, which promises to revolutionize the college's athletic programs. Designed by architect Jeffrey Baker of Mesick Cohen Wilson Baker, this unique space will provide approximately 16,000 square feet of additional space for the college's NCAA Division II athletic programs.

The facility is a testament to the vision and generosity of Bob and Ginny Adams, who have taken a leadership role in transforming the college's athletic programs through their transformative gift. The Center will be crucial in recruiting and retaining talented student-athletes, as well as supporting those who are already part of the college's scholar-athlete winning tradition.

With a capacity to accommodate over 550 student-athletes on campus, the Adams Athletic Performance Center is designed to provide top-notch facilities for varsity sports teams. The facility will include office suites for women's and men's basketball, lacrosse, as well as a state-of-the-art women's lacrosse locker room. Additionally, it will feature a 5,000-square foot varsity weight room, a 40-person theatre for film review, a conference room overlooking Lake Hollingsworth, and an academic center.

The Adams Athletic Performance Center is not the first project undertaken by Baker with Florida Southern College. He has previously designed several other buildings on campus, including the Sharon and Jim France Admissions Center (2018) and the Carole and Marcus Weinstein Computer Sciences Center (2021). His expertise in restorations of historic structures has also been utilized to restore Wright's historic buildings.

The college anticipates opening the Adams Athletic Performance Center in the spring of 2024, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to support student-athletes. The facility will provide a unique space for students to train, study, and socialize, ultimately enhancing their overall college experience.
